Loss and change of user credentials

We noticed that one user account lost his credentials and login password (see image). We are currently searching for a way to add the credentials (name, email, …) to the account but did not find a solution yet. Does anybody now how to change the user credentials?

Second question: How could this change have happened - Is there a logfile which tracks the changes to the user accounts?

Hi,

I assume you are using file-based authentication, correct?
Can you please let us know which openBIS version you are using and if you are using the docker installer?

Best,

Caterina

No, we are using “authentication-service = file-ldap-authentication-service”. (source: “/servers/openBIS-server/jetty/etc/service.properties”)

Can you please let us know which openBIS version you are using and if you are using the docker installer?

The current version is 20.10.9.1 and we installed openbis from tar archiv. → We didn’t use the docker installer.

I found a solution to set my own credentials (WebUI → Settings → User Profile → Edit) but I am still curious how this change could happen.

Dear @mschroeder,
if you have openBIS configured using LDAP the manually set “fields” can change if the LDAP directory have them different. I did not remember experiencing this but I assume it could happen.
openBIS have few default assumption about LDAP directory. We could debug this further in more private openbis-support@ case for us to not ask about details of your LDAP directory structure.
